How To Dry Gourds
We LOVE Decorating With Gourds Here
At The Cottonwood House!
(I am sure you have seen them in many
of our display photos)
Drying Gourds Is So Very Easy!
The Best Type of Gourd to Use
Is a Bottle or Bottle Neck Gourd.
There are so many Amazing Varieties that you can grow in your own garden!
First wash off the outside throughly or soak in soapy water for 2-4 hours. This will kill any bacteria that might be on the skin.
Lay out or hang gourds in a well ventilated area. The temperature should be around 55-65 degrees. Any warmer and mold might form.
Let dry for 6 - 9 months. This drying time will depend on the size and variety of your gourd.
