History of "St. George Tucker House"
"Sweet & Crunchy Williamsburg Walnuts" Recipe
St. George Tucker House began as a simple structure built in 1718.
Tucker made many additions to the house to accommodate his growing family. His wife, Frances, and George were the parents of six children.
St. George Tucker House was the first home in Williamsburg to have a Christmas Tree in their parlor. To the delight of the children, the tree was decorated with gilded walnuts, marbleized paper and strings of popcorn. This tradition soon spread throughout Virginia.
