DID YOU KNOW?

The first documented Valentine in the United States

was addressed to the Townsend's daughter Sarah

by occupying officer John Graves Simcoe.

He presented it to her on February 14th, 1779.

The Poem begins...

"Fairest Maid, where all is fair, Beauty's pride and Nature's care;

To you my heart I must reign, O choose me for you Valentine!..."
