"Home to six children, St. George Tucker House was the first home

in Williamsburg to have a Evergreen Tree in their parlor.

To the delight of the children, it was decorated with

gilded walnuts, marbleized paper and strings of popcorn.

The following December, most families in Williamsburg

had a Christmas Tree in their parlor.

The tradition soon spread throughout Virginia."
